I notice that Evans is touting that handle and revenue are up compared to projections. wasn't he the one last year that said they needed new metrics now and wouldn't be discussing handle and revenue? or am I wrong.

that one could be seen a mile away. Less being wagered, less being made by the tracks, so the purses go lower.

The difference was noticable bigtime derby/oaks day. win pools were significantly lower for the races not allowed to be simulcasted. Derby might have been ok, but the rest of the card's pools were way, way down.

From what I heard, you couldn't even get a bet in on Twin Spires. So comedy.

Problem is that these people were given fish and got fat on them, they were never taught HOW to fish.

They say they were down 2%. That is great compared to Keenelands meet. If they want to cut purses 2% let them. But I'm sure it will be more. They keep digging a hole and Presque Isle opens soon.

So can someone please tell me why I am shut out of Belmont today sitting in an OTB in Cambridge Maryland where I bet Belmont since it opened at Laurel and Delaware Park.

Del. Park owns this place and I can bet CD but not Belmont. No video obviously for Calder when they run as well.

Was there a story I missed about NY tracks bonding with the horsemen from Calder and CD or did I just enter the twilight zone?

Glad I capped the whole card in NY today and actually liked the opportunities!!

Any ideas!!

That actually isn't true at all, at least for Derby day.

Wagering on the Woodford Reserve and Derby was down, while wagering on the rest of the card was up almost across the board.

I believe Belmont's signal is unavailable in something like 16 states right now for a variety of reasons. Maryland and Delaware happen to be two of them.

Today was a big day for PID - with live racing just two days away - the number of horses stabled on the ground has finally reached triple digits.

Except you can wager on Belmont at Laurel unless things changed today.....no one seems to have a consistent answer.

the win pools on the early and late races had trouble even getting to $100k (at least that's what it said on the board at CD).

These 'cuts' couldn't be any worse than the 'cuts' on the CD website.

LUCKILY, there are other options with better service.

It's all good.

They are doing this partially because they want to make the argument for slots.
Churchill needs slots. Other than derby week they don't exactly have huge handles and they will have a hard time competing with places like the new track in PA that has slots.

I don't know if slots are the answer but the KY government is full of idiots. They basically allow a ton of KY money to go to Indiana and they have the perfect place for a casino in churchill, especially with the new boxes and the new facility they put together over the last few years.
