Default Curlin to Arlington??

for the Grade III Turf race on July 12 or the Man O' War at Belmont.

Hopefully Arlington sets up to the plate and juices the purse a little. I think the Handicap is only 200k and only a Grade III.....

I guess the Man O' War makes a little more sense (Grade 1, 500k), unless Arlington's course is more like where they run the Arc...

1. Hopefully Arlington(CDI) doesnt donate more money to Jess Jackson.
2. The Man O War is run at Belmont which is in NY where some of his owners arent going to get licensed which may be a problem.
3. Neither Belmont nor Arlington are remotely like Longchamp.

Didn't think about #2, that is even more positive for Arlington now...

You watch, they will 'offer' that purse to 500k if Curlin shows up....That would be pretty bad ass for us Chi people

He might as well run a jump out at Kentucky Downs after turning the sprinklers on for 24 hours.

Would be interesting to see if Einstein shows up to run Curlin on turf.

I doubt it. They may have let her run him against him on dirt because they thought he had no chance to beat Curlin on the dirt. I think he is going to the firecracker?

I assume she is prepping him for the Million and then the Firecracker might make more sense from a timing perspective. I was just speculating that they might want another shot at Curlin on the turf and I think that would still leave 4 weeks for the Million.

Do you think officials at NYRA may 'look the other way' for that one?

It's not NYRA -- it's the NY State Racing and Wagering Board. I don't know what, if any, input may have on the licensing process; although many have often wondered why and how some people have been turned down while others don't.

Are you saying that Fort Prado and Lord Carmen aren't good enough for you anymore?

If the $$$$$$$$$ was there isnt this about as close as you could get. Im sure the lack of a live attendance would be a major negative.

Incarceration will definitely get your license request denied.

I'll certainly be out there if Curlin actually comes (which I still doubt).
However, I will of course be out of town July 3 for the OTHER superhorse's next race at Arlington. This is now the third time (out of three) that I will be unable to attend on a day when a DeeTee horse is running.
I am begining to think that Steve and Chuck have access to my schedule and are purposely avoiding me.

Peter Lurie on HRTV interviewed Steve Asmussen prior the Foster on Saturday. He said they are pointing Curlin to Arc at Longchamp. They would like to get one turf start under his belt and will consider running him on only 3 North American turf courses. Arlington, Belmont or Woodbine.

It would be incredibly exciting for us, but I agree, I think its a longshot.

I like how they think that the Arlington turf course is similar to Longchamp.
