Default Ravel Returns

Runs in the 8th at Keeneland today. I hope he gets his ass kicked and finishes last.

Tough to take him at the current odds of 3-5, but he should romp. I wonder if the Clark at Churchill is what they are for or a race at the end of the year in CA.

Sure seems like the Strub Series would make a lot of sense since it looks like it is going to be complete and total garbage at this point.

Tiago is not garbage. I'm sure he will show up in one of those races.

He might show up in the last race. One horse in one race doesn't make for much of a series.

I haven't seen the race yet, but based on the chart (http://www.drf.com/drfPDFChartRacesI...=20071012&RN=8) it looks like it was a pretty nice return off a big layoff, even considering the suspect quality of the competition.

definatly a probsbility for any of the stakes races that conflict with horses aiming for any of the BC races. Big question is the long range plans ,Cal or GP. Could be the right timing for the winter Stakes at GP.

The Strub Series always looks like its gonna be crap at this point in the year. It's certainly lost a lot of luster in the last 10 years, mostly thanks to a cutback in the distances of the races and the horrible Santa Anita stakes schedule, which offers other older horse stakes the same weekend as the Strub events, not to mention the preposterous Sunshine Millions.

But it's always come through as a platform for a couple top class horses, a couple of shippers, a couple of off-the-turf Europeans, a few up-and-comers, and a bunch of comebackers that dropped out of sight in the winter and spring. So in that regard, it will at least be interesting, and possibly, produce some good betting races.

Last year yielded subsequent Grade 1 winners Latent Heat, Spring At Last, and Midnight Lute (1-2-3 in the Malibu) and BC Classic contender Awesome Gem took the San Fernando.

In addition to Ravel and Tiago, we might add Great Hunter, Zanjero, Medici Code, Ten A Penny, Notional, Major Pleasure, Le Grand Trois, Idiot Proof, and whatever else next year.

I was one race too soon. I loved the way he looked yesterday against stakes horses. Even horrible stakes horses. Ravel is garbage.

Default one man

one man's trash...

He didn't look so bad in the N.Diver IMO.

Those artificial stakes in California can be pretty wild. Those horses are pumped up and the dynamics and pedigree is a little different.
Every horse save Wanna Bummer was basically competive on paper.
I thought the race was entertaining and interesting, but it wasn't exactly a classic style race.

I am not saying Ravel did great. He didn't compete for the win, and he did get swallowed up turning for home as 7 horses lined up across the cushion track.

However, physically he looked like a nice horse all the way around. He finished willingly going from 7th to 4th in the stretch.

He still looks like a nice horse to me. I would love to see him run on dirt for the rest of his career. He looks like he gets 9 furlongs no problem, and has some talent. You can make some money on the east coast with that skill set.

No one wants Ravel at 1.2-1. No value.
