![]() Filly foal to Alinghi
![]() Arrowfield Stud Arrowfield Stud reports that the mating of two champions produced a much anticipated foaling at Arrowfield Stud in the early hours of Monday morning. A bay filly by seven-time Champion Chilean sire Hussonet (by Mr Prospector) out of four-time G1 winner Alinghi (Encosta De Lago - Oceanfast (by Monde Bleu) greeted the world at just after 2 am on November 6. “Alinghi was a little surprised by the experience but she quickly adapted to motherhood and is proving to be a good Mum,” says Sam Fairgray. “It’s a very nice first foal with plenty of strength and quality”. Alinghi accepted the furry of early morning visitors at Arrowfield and the innumerable photos without any fuss, one eye always on her young charge given the fi ly’s keenness to investigate her new surrounds. Alinghi was voted Champion 3Y0 filly of her year and accrued almost $3.5 million in prizemoney. Her first start (and win) as a 2YO was at stakes level – the Listed Debutante Stakes - and she never looked back, her 11 wins including 4 at G1 level - the Newmarket Handicap where she beat Fastnet Rock, Robert Sangster Stakes, Thousand Guineas and Blue Diamond. Purchased privately at the end of her three year-old season by Arrowfield Stud and partners, Alinghi was sent to North America where she won the G3 Balston Spa Breeders Cup at Saratoga before returning to Australia. |
