Default Tipping

I know that there was a thread in here about tipping the mutuel clerk when you win. However, I don't remember if there was any mention of a tipping cup. This is my first trip to Monmouth and I was shocked to see that many of the tellers had a cup labeled "tips" in front of them. Is this normal practice? I've only been to a few tracks and have never seen this at any of them Has anyone else seen this at a race track, and what do you do? Tip every time you place/cash a bet, like you are getting coffee at Dunkin Donuts?

i'm more inclined to tip people who do NOT put up a tip jar. tip jars bring out the sarcasm in me.

but then, many things bring that out.

The track is already taking 17 to 25 percent of my money. I'll be damned if I tip on top of that. More reason to use the machines for betting.

omg, if you (or anyone) lost to seattle, you'd never hear the end of it.

i'm holding my own in fantasy football. three way tie for first. but i was never good at b-ball, so i don't like it.

Reaching for both Brady and Moss was the key to fantasy football dominance.....

Ignore those cups. Just place/cash your bet and go.

I didn't see very many of them yesterday.

The tellers were horrific. Check your tickets before leaving the window. I had one that couldn't figure out how to punch a freaking P3, she had to get help. Today could get ugly with a real crowd.
