seattle slew

no, seriously...i think war admiral. that horses belmont was amazing. but then, so was count fleets and secretariats.
but the admiral set a record, won the race, with an injury that almost forced his retirement. came back to the winners circle with blood all over himself. but he refused to lose.

Yeah, had Jazil run in the Preakness - he probably would have swept the triple crown of racing last at the first pace call in all three races in the series.

Bid would have beaten them all, but Secretariat out of all the TC winners.

His dam and a half sibling to his dam were both track record setting sprinters on Northern Cal fair-circuit bullrings.

Even with the stamina on top - he didn't exactly have a 12 furlong pedigree - and though he lossed both career starts at 12 furlongs...he did seem to do it with valid trip excuses to his defense.

Valid excuses were something he never needed between the distances of 7 furlongs and 10 furlongs - going 24-for-24 with 14 Grade 1 wins - setting or equaling 8 track records - and having 23 of those 24 wins coming by margins of 1.5 lengths or greater.

Am I missing something here?
He ran the race in 2:24 and won by 31 lengths. I think Big Red would beat any of them at any distance but going 12 furlongs at Belmont he would be the most likely winner by far.
I would use Affirmed and Citation to fill out the trifecta.

Even if the Bid was allowed to participate in the race with the actual TC winners, I don't think there is any way he could handle Sec (or probably not the other two) at 12f.

Not to turn off-topic from this fine thread that makes you ponder hypothetical 12 furlong races featuring Seattle Slew and Sir Barton sending for the lead....

But, upon a further review of the picture....

Eli is Gold.
