Default Uhm, okay...

Just a few days after someone posted on here that story about how the expensive dynaformer yearling that just sold is a half brother to barbaro, we get this gem from the bloodhorse, of all places!!

"A handsome son of Johannesburg brought $1 million to top the Sept. 15 session of Keeneland’s September yearling sale as the session’s gross, average, and median all posted modest gains.

The Kentucky-bred colt is a half-brother to Scatourchio’s grade I winner Scat Daddy and is out of the Quiet American mare American Jewel. Pletcher said the colt may race in Ireland and ,due to Johannesburg’s versatility, may be tried on the grass."

It's the dynaformer-barbaro thing all over again!! Same sire, different mare entirely!

Well I don't get why horse racing doesn't consider them half brothers since for every other species we would consider them that way. Genetically, they are related...

not to mention biologically as they really are half siblings. So jes because horse racing has a problem with science does that mean we have to be incorrect as well?

What blows my mind is when two horses have the same sire and same broodmare sire yet they aren't even considered half siblings. Weird sport.

i think all three of you know full well why horses from the same sire arent' considered siblings.

yeah, i know. genetically they are half brothers, or perhaps more, but for practicality's sake, it makes more sense to reserve that for horses from the same dam.
