![]() From Racing Post.....
Alexandrova could return at York ![]() by Brian Fleming & Neil Morrice . AIDAN O'BRIEN said on Monday that last year's dual Oaks heroine Alexandrova was still some way from making her reappearance, but that she could return at York's Ebor meeting next month. The daughter of Sadler's Wells also won the Darley Yorkshire Oaks last term, and could bid for a repeat win in the Group 1 contest on August 22. She was last seen when finishing third behind Mandesha in the Prix de l'Opera at Longchamp in October. "She's a little bit away yet from starting back," said O'Brien on Monday. "All is fine with her, but we have just taken our time and don't have any firm plans, although she could reappear in the Yorkshire Oaks." This year's beaten Oaks favourite, Passage Of Time, is also making encouraging progress towards a return to action next month. Henry Cecil will target the Khalid Abdullah-owned filly at either the Nassau Stakes at Goodwood on August 4 or the Yorkshire Oaks. Passage Of Time had to contend with an abscess on her throat when preparingfor Epsom, having landed the Musidora Stakes at York on her reappearance. Connections are encouraged that this ailment has gone, and the owner's racing manager Teddy Grimthorpe said on Monday: "The abscess on her throat has now cleared up andshe is now back in work and moving well. “She has a number of engagements including the Nassau, the Yorkshire Oaks and even the Juddmonte, but in all probability we'll be looking at the first two of those as a comeback race." Passage Of Time's formtook a boost when Soldier Of Fortune landed the Irish Derby on Sunday - when landing a Group 1 at Saint-Cloud last November Passage Of Time beat him by three-quarters of a length. Another Abdullah-owned horse whose form ties in with Soldier Of Fortuneis Arabian Gulf, who went down by a head to the O'Brien colt in the Chester Vase before side-stepping the Derby. Grimthorpe added: "He's coming along nicely but there are no definite plans." |

![]() Great news from Racing post.....
Fawn and Alexandrova join forces for O'Brien Oaks bid by David Lawrence and Tony O'Hehir . AIDAN O'BRIEN plans to run both "Iron Lady" Peeping Fawn (pictured above) and last year's Oaks winner Alexandrova in the Yorkshire Oaks on Wednesday. However, this year's Oaks winner Light Shift and her stablemate Passage Of Time are both set to miss the meeting and wait for targets later in the autumn. Peeping Fawn was having her ninth race of the season when winning the Nassau Stakes at Goodwood last time, her third Group 1 win on the trot. In contrast stablemate Alexandrova will be making her belated seasonal debut in the Darley-sponsored Group 1. O'Brien said on Wednesday: "We are planning to run Peeping Fawn and Alexandrova in the Yorkshire Oaks. Peeping Fawn came out of her win at Goodwood in good form but it will be Alexandrova's first run of the year and she is probably going to improve a lot for the run." Passage Of Time demonstrated she is in good form when stretching out nicely on the Newmarket gallops on Wednesday, but the Musidora Stakes winner will not be returning to York next week. The Henry Cecil-trained filly, who disappointed when sent off a short-priced favourite for the Oaks after suffering an abscess on her epiglottis during the build-up to Epsom, was alsonotable by her absence from Wednesday's confirmed entries for the Juddmonte International on Tuesday. Instead a trip to France next month now looks on the cards. After watching the daughter of Dansili quicken past her lead under jockey Ted Durcan in aworkout on Racecourse Side, Cecil said: "Passage Of Time is coming along nicely, but I'm not thinking of York - it may just come a bit early for her." He added: "It is far more likely that she'll go for the Prix Vermeille. The Breeders' Cup is a possibility." Passage Of Time's stablemate Light Shift, who finished third on her latest outing behind Peeping Fawn and Mandesha in the Nassau Stakes, also misses York. The long term plan is the Prix de l'Opera on the Arc card on October 7. The trainer told henrycecil.com: "Light Shift is just having a little break and there would be a chance of her running in the Prix de l'Opera." |

![]() Wow.
Never thought they would run them against eachother. Bet this is a hard choice for you, mmsc...... Who you picking, you can't have both ![]() Pepping Fawn might just get the better of Alexandrova because she has race fitness on her side.

![]() How many more runs do you think Peeping Fawn will have this year. Already at 9, you'd expect at least 3 more..

![]() Nooooooooooooooooo.
![]() RP... RETIREMENT LOOMS FOR ALEXANDROVA By Martin Kelly, PA Sport Triple Oaks heroine Alexandrova looks to have run her last race. The winner of last year's Epsom, Irish and Yorkshire Oaks has been off the track since finishing third to Mandesha in the Prix de l'Opera 11 months ago. She was scheduled to reappear at York last month only for a muscle problem to rule her out just 24 hours before the race. Trainer Aidan O'Brien said: "I don't know whether she will race again. "She was a bit stiff before she ran in York so missed that race and she still isn't quite right. "Because of who she is you wouldn't dream of taking any chances with her and it is possible you won't see her again." After finishing unplaced on her debut, Alexandrova has won or been placed on her other eight career starts and has amassed £652,264 in prize money. |
