![]() Jerome Bettis says that he was faking an injury while a Pittsburgh Steeler.
This brings back memories of when he was a Stl Ram. I will never forget when the Rams were on a little winning streak and then the San Fransissyco 49ers came to Stl. It was at Busch Stadium. The Dome wasn't ready yet. I had really good seats. You had to go down on the field to get to them. They often showed the highlight of Ken Norton Jr. beating up the goal posts. Saying, "same old sorry ass Rams". NFL Films never shows what I remember. I will never get this mental picture out of my head. Jerome Bettis is trying to sweep left, he looks up, sees two 49er defenders, puts his hand on the astro turf and lays down. The defenders walk up and place one hand on Jerome as he is laying on the ground. Then walk away talking to themselves like they couldn't believe what just happened. The Bus(t) lays down. NFL Films would show that mope while he was with the Steelers and Jerome looks in the camera and says, "Stl said I quit on them" HE DID He never really denied quitting on the Rams. He quit on St. Louis and now he admits that he fakes an injury to stick it to the team that kissed his ass every chance they got. Bum no account bum

![]() Wing,
You're wrong about Bettis, he always gave his all and was a good teammate. Many RB's avoid hits when they know they can't make the first down, otherwise the career span of RB's would be even shorter. You can not pick one play out of a future hall of famers career and call him a bum. Did he fake an injury or is he trying to sell books? This Injury? has brought a lot of attention to book that is about to be in a store near you. |

I'm guessing you weren't a Stl. Ram? Still say he quit on the Rams. He wanted to have a career with another team and that was obvious. If he's making up the injury story to sell his book or if the story is true - It isn't a good thing. I just know what I saw. It's something I won't forget. Like Kevin Carter taking plays off. Good luck Ae

![]() I wonder how it will affect business at his new restaurant virtually next door to Heinz field?
Odd that he also wrote that the Steelers were never sold on Kordell Stewart. I remember it that they gave him more chances than Rooney's own son would have gotten ![]() http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pitt.../s_523538.html |

I beleive they Rams wanted to make him a fullback with a lot of blocking duties. He wasn't a particular good blocker then or with the Steelers, part of the reason that he never really played in passing situations. The Rams didn't utilize him correctly after his rookie year, which lead to the trade . He may not have been a great team player with the Rams, but there position switch after a very good rookie year was part of the problem. |

You are right about Stewert, he did not have the accuracy to be an above average QB. He was given a fair shot, but let me add the Steeler WR's during this time period were not very good. I think his restaurant will do very well. Saying he duped the Steelers to save his job will not be that much of negative because he had a few more good years. If he would have played poorly 2000-2005 that might be a different story. The Super Bowl also helped. |
