![]() I wish someone here with perspective would tell the story of how the guy became a hall of fame rider yet had so many critical things said about him prior to his turf dominance at Belmont last meet and now multisurface dominance again at Saratoga...was there a substance problem or an injury here??

![]() He's simultaneously the best at riding the favorite off the board and at getting a longshot home. Exasperating combination.

![]() I particularly LOVE IT when he gets carried away whipping in the stretch and can't control the horse and drifts radically IN or OUT or all over the place.
See PEACE MON (and Ambassador) for the latest examples of this. (Hard to believe he's back on Peace Mon Saturday.) You'd think that his agent actually watches some of his rides and has sat the kid down and talked to him about this. Maybe by next year. Beautiful ride on Nehantic Cat today as well: check for no reason going into the 2nd turn, then gunned 2nd widest (6 path) immediately after, losing position, and then finishing behind 2 horses to his inside. At least he was relatively straight in the stretch. He's a real comer. |
