![]() I don't know anyone who loves the game more than I do. I think its been a great weekend so far for racing with the reemergence of some stars, confirmation that some horses are indeed stars, and some great new shooters emerging.
Wait A While is just an impossible horse not to love. Shed already won a turf stakes race and a couple on wet tracks while placing at a high level on dry tracks. But her mile and a quarter effort yesterday was just smashing and the kind of effort that makes anyone excited to see how she will perform even against older mares later this year. A smashing filly she is. Invasor's Pim Special looked ok to me and earned a big fig that I questioned because I though he beat suspect horses. I liked him, but wanted to see confirmation that he was indeed the goods and he is indeed the goods. He just may be better than Flower Alley and Lava Man. His win this weekend was awesome, and adds much needed star power to the older division. Henny Hughes was one of my favorite 2 Yo's last year but I feared that his winter in the desert was going to take him back a few steps like it has so many other horses. What a performance by him this weekend!!! He beat nothing but very rarely do I cry out "Holy ****" when watching a race and when he switched leads and took off it was a hair raising performance. He could be ANYTHING this year and I'm not so sure he will just sprint. I think he will go at least a mile, maybe further and that race was just awesome!!! Glad to see him back! |

![]() I'd also like to add that Funny Cide's win was also a great thing to see. Even though he has never been my favorite horse, it was great to see him show courage and win a nice stakes race. So many have foolishly bashed this animal who is obviously past his grade one days but still a useful horse when spotted properly. Its not the horses fault that he has ben mismanaged at times or that he is a gelding who is still knocking around when his 3Yo contemporaries have been long retired to stud. Horses who race a long time develop certain minor problems that slow them up a little bit. But nothing is better to see ina race horse than heart. He showed this weekend that he still has heart. I certainly don't want to see a horse who has battled gamely and at times in his career shown greatness be referred to as a joke. He has a large following of fans and its good for the game when he wins and shows heart.

The best win for me this weekend was Funny Cide's. I was sure the horse was going to pass him in the stretch, but then he flattened his ears and dug in. I couldn't believe he turned the horse away! For a moment, I thought I was watching Seabiscuit!!! I also thought that Henny Hughes turned in a wonderful race. He annihilated that field!!! Sprinter of the Year 2006. Wait A While is the mare...on turf at least! All in all, I had a great weekend too. And it's about to get even better. Two more straight days at the OTB with nothing to do but play the ponies! Plus, I get to see Buddy Gil today at Churchill. I can't wait to see that race. He goes against Don't Get Mad and Greater Good. |

Only living 5 minutes from the actual Yorktown Battlefield where Washington defeated Cornwallis, I second that notion. My day tomorrow will be spent at the Battlefield. God Bless America |

I have been there. Beautiful. There is a huge amount of history up in Saratoga too. Saratoga is not only great racing, but the battle there was arguably the most important battle ever fought in the history of the country. I would argue Trenton was more important, but most feel Saratoga was the turning point of the war. George Washington was quite the gambler and loved horse racing too. |

R3: Incredibly competitive starter Allowance. Choctaw Charlie's wom 5 in a row and is about 3 lengths shy of having won 10 straight. Irish Rogue's won two in a row.... Just Add Rum won 2 of last 3... The one I like is El Segundo Joe. Won five straight and I think he's gonna get lost in the betting here. Win play at 3-1+. R8: I think 1, Elvish, has a big shot at double digit odds for Mario Morales. Drops, cuts back and a nice work since his last ... same pattern as his two prior wins. good luck |

![]() Thanks B. I will write them down. My buddy just called me and begged me to meet him at the OTB today, so it is off to there instead of online today.
Hit 'em hard today. |

Kev, we live a stones throw away from the battlefield where the most monumental battle in all of history took place. The Battle of Saratoga was the turning point of the Revolutionary War and without it there might not be a United States of America, we could very well all be doing tea and crumpets today and bowing down to "royalty". The very thought of it horrifies me. I've been to the battlefield and they actually provide you with details of how teh battle was fought. It was an incredibly stupid and arrogant battle plan by the British that allowed the ragtags to kick their asses and convince others that we could win the war. Thank God for that. |
