Default Hurry and sprint to the window.

I might be off base here but, shouldn't the public have more than 46 seconds to change some bets when a 4/5 shot gets scratched at the gate? That was unbelievable.

Shoot that happens all the time. Then they give you the post time fav. if your playing the Pick 4 or 6. I think we should have time to select the horse we want because sometimes the fav. is a bum.

This was the first race of the early pick 4 at Belmont. The odds on favorite was scratched after acting up in the gate. He was probably a single on a lot of tickets. There was no delay and the post time favorite ran second. It just seems to me that the betting public gets screwed again.

Yeah, I don't think they wanted to refund all the money that was already in the P-3 and P-4 pools.. I tried to cancel my pick 3 ticket and I couldn't..

AGAIN???

Happened on July 4th as well. Went from having 0 tickets to the bum favorite to two. Spoke to Blackthroatedwind about it yesterday, in fact- he's talked to NYRA about it before and will try again on all of our behalf.

ok, yeah i remember that. It seemed like that day they were a lot of gate scratches. The 5 ( i think ) was scratched in the last giving me Dubliner. I would have rather had a conso.

Who's decision is it to just reload and go? Is it a NYRA practice? Or is it up to the starter? If it is the starter's call I think he used very poor judgement just to reload and go. He should have a better idea whats going on(as far as odds and betting sequences) It wasn't like it was a 70-1 shot, although those people should have a chance to alter thier bets as well. This was the heavy 4/5 favorite in the 1st leg of the pick 4. After she was scratched you could have gone 2-3 deep in that race, but instead you were stuck with the Hough horse that ran second. If it a NYRA practice, maybe they could delay the start for a 3-5 minutes if it is the beginning leg of the pick 4, or pick 6. I know they want try to keep things on schedule, but things happen and I am sure people rather be at the track for an extra few minutes then be stuck with a post time favorite that they do not like.

While it sucks from a bettors point of view. They never mess around in NY. It would be nice if they would delay a little on the first leg of the 2 p4's but that isn't their practice.

I think they pride themselves in not backing all the horse out of the stalls and keeping to their projected post times.

Yeah, he was, that's right. I didn't have the 5 in that race and only threw in Dubliner as insurance. Liked the 6 at a big number, he ran well but not well enough.
