Default Bay Meadows Reprieve

Not sure that it will make too much of a difference, but looks like Bay Meadows has been granted their waiver.

Sincerely hope that racing will continue on the Bay Area, but the long-term still looks bad...

Sidebar story out here is that the Pleasanton track (fair racing now, and the oldest mile track in America) is said to be angling to get some of the Bay Meadows racing dates and in turn spend the $$ for polytrack.

Right now it seems it's a chicken before the egg kind of story, but it's a story just the same.

Wow. I haven't heard that. Interesting to see how this all plays out...

Once Bay Meadows closes, their dates will likely be split between Pleasanton, and Santa Rosa. I think Santa Rosa will get the bulk of the dates, as they have the advantage of having a 7 furlong turf course that was installed a few years ago. I heard Pleasanton's director of racing on a show a few weeks ago. I don't recall him mentioning any plans for a turf course. Santa Rosa has already picked up 5 additional racing dates this year. They will host 5 days of the Solano County Fair dates, giving them 3 weeks of racing this year.
