![]() 528 is a Johannesburg colt that looks a lot like Scat Daddy...
Not sure if he actually sold, but high bid was 55k. His name is Joshua's Dream. ![]()

If Mistergee is looking for encouragement....the dam of hip #479 sold for just $5,200 at a 2yo in training sale....and she went on to win 14 races over a span of four years of racing, and banked over $186K. She's by the same sire as Afleet Alex, who's one of the few duel Classic winners to come out of a 2yo sale. She was also quick enough to work a furlong in 10 1/5...with the aid of blinkers. If you're looking for discouragement.....chances are you'll probably lose money with her...just the nature of the game. |

I did see a few that I really liked, but I have no clue on their background and why they were entered at this sale. Supposedly, quite a few of them had throat problems, etc.

I will say though, I've found that horses who work very fast 1/4 miles without blinkers...are often much more likely to reproduce their good sales preview in a racing situation...than a horse who works very fast going an 1/8th mile with blinkers. In the past, if a horse is capable of previewing a 1/4 mile in under 21 seconds, they've proven to be almost locks of going on to be fleet footed Graded Stakes winners. Time means something....but it surely doesn't mean everything. |
