I think he was hush-hush about running horses just to get the media off his back. Much like CQ in the Preakness. With 5 horses predicted for the race, I personally think anyone with a shot is insane not to take that shot. $1 million and not a lot has to go wrong to get a great showing.

Well, Todd seems to get it fairly easy from the media, as I suppose with such a stranglehold on top horses reporters seem almost afraid to get him at all angry with them, for fear that he won't help them when he is needed....which is often.

What's the big deal.....he's either running or not. Surely he must know five days before the 1 1/2 mile Belmont. This aint cloak and dagger stuff. Nobody is waiting to run, or training differently, based on what Todd is doing.

Oh please Mista Pletcha run the filly. TAP..What does she have to prove? Run her and show those nasty boys that she is that good. Ok then run CQ. TAP..why? The undercard of stakes is where I'll clean up. But, Mista Pletcha the BS is a million. I'll toss and turn all night. Good Night.

As obnoxious as it is to me as a fan it is a pretty smart move from his position. If he says one of the horses is running and then pulls out late (like CQ in the Wood) everyone will be questioning what sort of injury they are hiding. By never raising expectations that a horse will run in the Belmont he can have a minor setback without it becoming a public issue.

Great question...With JV and GoGo committed I'd say Dominguez. He'll be in town riding Better Talk Now in the Manhattan.

Unless Prado picked up a mount that I missed then I think it is a no brainer. I'd just assumed he was waiting on whichever Coolmore horse ran in the Belmont.

Yeah- I didn't even think about Prado. That would seem like a good fit.

That's a good point. Honestly, I thought Todd was getting a bit annoyed with the media at the Derby this year as everywhere he turned he was blasted with the question. I for one was sick of hearing about it. People are obsessed with failure, whenever anyone cannot do something, we're all about it.

I would like to see him drop CQ or Rags in the race. I think neither have a chance, but they'll make the race more appealing and help the other pools a bit. Pletcher or not, another horse or two won't hurt this race.

Rags wins if she's entered. . . No reason not to in my opinion- it's not like it'll hurt her stud fee if she gets beaten badly. . .

Getting the media off his back? I haven't seen TAP on Sports Center. The media doesn't care about horse racing.

The Belmont immediately becomes more interesting if he runs Rags to Riches.
Hope so.

TP said this morning that he will NOT run them both and he is more likely to run Rags.
