Default Best call by durkin ever!

His call today in the last 1/16th of the commentator race was by far his best call ever!

I'll even overlook his mangling of the jocks name, naki tani!

Yeah---his call in the first was pretty embarassing---good thing he caught the mistake just before the wire though.

I just google'd him and wow...he's a bigun'. Doesn't he vacation in Italy? Someone needs to tell him to lay off the gravy when he's over there.

Was it Clem McCarthy who miscalled the Preakness way back when? He was a veteran of calling many sorts of sports on radio, including football games. Uniforms being what they were in those days, and games played on often muddy fields, he sometimes got the wrong player breaking away towards the goalline; but as soon he noticed the error, he would announce that the player he was calling would lateral to the correct player and would have the right player get the touchdown. His response to questions about his Preakness error was "You can't lateral a horse."

How about the trouble he claimed Silver Wagon had early in the race? Feel free to watch the head on and find his trouble.

He had NONE.
