Default heard a local jockey at GLD talking yesterday

and it really caught my attention. He wasn't betting, but I heard him b*itching about the ride a jock gave his horse because the jockey knew he wasn't going to be in the money, so he gave up on the horse when he could have finished atleast 4th, rather than 7th. I just wish more jockeys had his way of thinking as he said, "I ride to win every race, and if I can't win I want 2nd, if I can't get 2nd, I want 3rd, if I can't get 3rd I want 4th,......., if I can't get 6th, I want 7th" then he went on to say, "If I can't get 3rd, I still want 4th because eventhough I won't be making any money on the race, the owner and trainer still get a check based on where their horse finishes, so I want to get the best out of the horse for them."

do all jockeys think like this or do some just not care?
