after just rewatching the Best of the BC video, it just won't be the same without Tom Durkin. He's just amazing.

It'll be Denamn again. Durkin has an exlcusive agreement with NBC, so he's not available unless the races are at Belmont.

You think he'll be able to pick up Street Sense this year?

Not unless he is front by four at the 1/8th pole. Do you think that Denman was trying to think of something clever to say about Circular Quay that caused him to ignore Street Sense blowing the race open along the rail.

What is it with the blind spot that some of these racecallers have with horses on the rail? Luke K. did not pick up Street Sense until he had already made the lead. As the race favorite, he's got to know where Street Sense is. He's now blown two Derby calls (Closing Argument in 2005) in the past three years.

I agree, Luke's call was crap. Durkin is so far and away the best, it's ridiculous.

Luke didnt even pick up Street Sense until he was by Hard Spun. Durkin's call had me on edge. Denman is boring and losing what was once his charm. Theres nobotti better than Durk. Makes sense seeing the BC is only a little away from Durk's backyard.

Durkin is great because he has a certain cadence to his calls. He knows how to draw the listener's interest and then build it up until the stretch run.

Nothing can be worse than Dave Johnson "and down the stretch they come!" Signature phrases are okay as long as they aren't used every single race.

Definitely. He's got perfect timing, and is both accurate and dramatic, which are two qualities difficult to combine.

I still have to say that I gained a great deal of respect for Trevor last year in the Distaff. I was at the 'Cup, and the way he did not acknowledge what happened to Pine Island showed true class and composure. He knew she went down, but making a point of it in the race would have drawn all attention to the accident and away from the race.

I still prefer Durkin, but I have respect for Trevor more now than before...

I can't figure out how to start a new thread, but I would like to know what would be the best seats at Monnouth for the 2007 Breeders Cup. This will be our 5th Cup but coming from California, I want to be sure to try for the best seats. They are very expensive this time.

The best seats are on the beach, if you can handle the tide & seagulls ..
Go down to the ""get together"" section..and start a new thread and im sure you will get plenty of answers.. Welcome to the board !

At least Dennam will pronounce Circular Quay correctly.

How do you know that he noticed it? I'm pretty sure he didn't see a damn thing, which is inexcusable.

It's not class or composure when one doesn't even MENTION a co-favorite going down in a BC race.. It's incompetence.
