Default Apparently Mike Smith Rode In a Different Race

TIAGO (7th): "He ran dynamite. "If he had more experience ... I don't know if we would have beaten the winner, but look at the gallop out. Ten jumps past the wire he was in front and he couldn't do that in the race. It was just a matter of experience. We had to wait a little bit, but that's to be expected in a big field.'' - jockey Mike Smith.

Dynamite?...Don't know if we would've beaten the winner? Where am I?

Does anyone else realize that the horses galloping out didn't run as hard as the horses that finished in front of them?...Sounds like the same crew who said Hard Spun shut it down fast after his work. Haha. Maybe because he went 57 for 5 furlongs. Crazy talk.

Mike Smith is the same guy who thinks Giacomo had a tough trip in the Preakness.

Tiago did gallop out well. Put Prado on him and bet him in the Belmont. Great breeding. Could be another Birdstone or Sarava.

Smith is goofy. But not as goofy as Solis after last year's Derby with Brother Derek.

Tiago's a work in progress and Smith's comments merely reflect his confidence in the colt and the race he ran. Since none of you rode Tiago on Saturday, none of you are in a position to question Smith's feelings about him. As I see it, this team will have to be reckoned with down the road.

I'd like to see Tiago in the Belmont. Agree with todko... love his breeding for it.

Closers don't do well in the Belmont. And slow closers do even worse....He'll gallop out a winner at the 14 furlong mark though no doubt.

Perhaps I'm nuts, but wasn't Jazil a closer?
