Default Looking Towards Keeneland

Quote:
A good rule of thumb for Turfway: never take a low price on a horse in a stake there who's unproven on artificial surfaces. That may be obvious but watch these get overbet tomorrow: Weather Warning, Acadia Breeze, Panty Raid, Floral Park, Silverinyourpocket, Olivine, Meritocracy (although Grand Slam offspring seem to love Poly), Reata's Rocket, Sports Town, Bullara, Forefathers, Hard Spun, For You Reppo and New Dimension.

JJP noted the above late Friday night. I had been handicapping for this, but JJP was the person that stated it. I believe it held quite true on Saturday on the Poly at Turfway.

Almost every horse winning and in the money had raced over, or like Hard Spun, had been training over the Poly. This includes horses that came over from Keeneland's main. Therefore, I don't believe the horses that won races on Saturday at Turfway were surprising, or wacky. Several were 2nd betting choices.

JJP's quote might be remembered going forward in a few days when Keeneland's meet opens.

Just a note to keep in mind, that may prove beneficial to one's handicapping. And to give credit to a poster for an excellent observation shared.

I think there may be some sort of adjustment period for horses moving from dirt/poly or poly/dirt. For instance, this summer @ Saratoga, Biancone's firsters that had been training on poly didn't do very well in their debuts on dirt. They would improve alot in their second starts on dirt, however. . .
