Default Bright One Euthanized

Haven't seen anyone mention this so I'm not sure if people are aware- But Bright One broke down and was euthanized after the Richter Scale on Saturday. . . RIP

"Bright One, who finished fourth, broke down and was vanned off following the race. According to the Daily Racing Form, Bright One broke the sesamoid bone in his left foreleg and had to be euthanized."

He had some real raw talent...but it was becoming clear last year that something was seemingly wrong with him. In his final three races last year, he was starting to look like a run-off type and simply would not relax like he had done earlier in his career.

He had that string of absolutely torrid workouts leading into Saturday's race, and I was hoping that maybe he'd come back looking like a new horse this year...and whatever was obviously bothering him last year was behind him.

While he did miss his break and flash exciting speed to get the lead in a fast paced race, he really did run another turkey, only staying on for 4th in what was certainly a low-graded Grade 2 sprint. It was sad to hear it has ended for him.

I don't know how I missed this story. I really liked this horse, one of those horses that would have made a decent addition to any 4 or 5 YO field and on down the line. Liked him in the WV Derby last year, although against a weak field.

Sad to see this guy go...

Yes, it did...

I'm glad I walked away from the rail when I did. That kind of stuff really affects me.
