The connections don't know what they want to do with the horse? That will come as a surprise to Doug O'Neill.

Here he is tonight on ATRAB talking about Lava Man as well as Great Hunter, Liquidity, Notional, Cobalt Blue and Stevie Wonderboy... And even "Sonic".. http://www.attheracesandbeyond.com/stream/22707c.mp3

It's always nice to hear about the 2007 Kentucky Derby winner.

Excellent interview Steve. Actually called my brother after it was over and told him to listen to the archives. A ton of info. on all of his horses crammed into a half hour. O'Neill is one of the true "nice guys" in the sport.

I don't care where or when it happens, I can't wait to see Lava Man kick English Channel's arse... I hope it is in Dubai, but I'd settle for anywhere other than CA.

Thx Bigs.. He's easy to talk to and has so many going... It was a fun show.

There's also a great half hour at 4:30 with Steve Rei, founder of the new National Equine Rescue Coalition...

I give respect to Lava Man now. He is to me the modern day John Henry because he is as effevtive on the dirt and on the turf. I hope he sweeps the california big races this year like he did last. What a feat that would be!!!!

PG,

Honestly, I stopped trying to beat him, in California anyway, after he cost me the Magna 5 last year.. (The Magna 5 where Miesque's Approval won the Sunshine Millions Turf.. at 50-1 or whatever).

The only play that makes less sense than betting against Lava Man in California, is betting on Lava Man anywhere else.

I enjoyed it, too. I liked how quickly O'Neill credited the groom for his work. And I got a kick about the groom maybe having a Lava Man wing in the new house he's building in Guatemala.

Wilko isn't going to be entered in the big cap.
I don't think Dollase knows where he's going next, but I'm sure they'd like to find a spot for him to be competitive and it clearly isn't graded stakes races.
