Default For Canterbury players...

... Sorry if this only affects 3 people here lol, but a little word of warning for y'all-

If you're goin to Canterbury to simulcast tomorrow, all the tables on the 3rd floor are reserved tomorrow (Sat 3/3), because of the Snow-cross snowmobile races that are goin there tomorrow. So it's gonna be tough (if not impossible) trying to find a place to sit tomorrow if simulcastin. It's B.S., but this thing I guess is a big $$$ maker for the track, so they're puttin the horse players on the back-burner tomorrow.

I can honestly say that I have never even seen a race run from Canterbury. They never carry it at my OTB.

Not even on a Thur or Fri night in the summer? They run at 4:30 central on Sats now to not go opposite the big time east tracks. But yeah I think they should go totally at night... like 6 or 7 to get more handle on Sats. But whatever... It doesn't help that CBY is an independently owned track.

I'm sure all the Magna tracks and all the Chuchill tracks get preferential treatment.

My OTB is normally too busy showing Dover, Northville, The Meadows and all the other high quality harness tracks.

I thought Richie Scherer was doin pretty good at Fairground? I guess not.

Haha It would be funny if we could bet on the snowmobiles. When they come around the first turn they look like greyhounds smashin into each other a lot lol.

Yeah the CBY also simulcasts a lot of harness tracks at night. But they do it with Mountaineer, Lone Star, Chucktown, Remington QH, Evangeline, etc etc etc

The only time Canty is ever widley available via simulcast was during the Claiming Crown day. Now that it's gone this year, they will continue to have a tough time getting big handles.
Last year the move to 4PM starts on Saturday night did have a positive affect on handle and attendance (a lot less tracks to compete with) but...the live racing isn't very glamorous if you're not from around here.

And yes, I already have a table reserved for tomorrow at Canterbury!

Are you sure CBY is going broke? Ever since the Card Club went in, it's added to their purses significantly. I did hear '06 was a lil bit of a down year on both the Horse Racing and Card Club fronts though...

I am mostly a lurker on this site. I Have been a regular at Canterbury for many years. I play in most the contests out there. I heard that they were moving the snowmobilers to the 2nd floor this year. I guess we will find out tomorrow. Good luck to all !

Mark,
There's a sign right when you go up to the escalator on the 3rd floor that reads
"All tables on the Clubhouse Level are reserved. Please go to 2nd level for available seating".

I'm just puttin in my picks for Road to Kentucky and In the $$$ tomorrow and headin home.

richies doin well@the FG battin 20% thus far and has always put up solid numbers as a trainer for as long as ive been going to the track. lol was good partyin with him, jimmie mcmullen(trainer) and the rest of the chitown people up@cby for the CC this past summer.

canterbury leaves alot to be desired outside during day racing as it doesnt look that good, but the inside including the poker room is nice and the food is good. night racing is always a blast as they draw a younger crowd that loves to drink, i think every single time ive been to cby ive been drunkLOL!

my biggest gripe with the place.... the licensing department blows a$$!!!!
