Default 2/25: Gulfstream (Late P4)

Third excellent Saturday in a row at Gulfstream as the 1. or 2. tabs take the late P4 to the tune of $450.80 ($1). Top selections Twilight Meteor ($15.00) in the Hallandale Beach and Jambalaya ($16.20) in the GPBCH combined with 'must use' second choice odds-on chalk Trendy Lady ($3.40) and Most Distinguished ($4.00) for the quality payday. And the GPBCH was a nice score over and above the P4 with the Superfecta returning $729.80 and the Tri $147.50.

Later at Fair Grounds, the P4 was a miss with a nose beat in the 7th and head beat in the 10th the difference between a winning play and losing one... Hope you did well on the day..

The Magna 5 was an excersize in frustration with the middle leg (SA 4th) being captured by formless Barry Abrams' Christiana's Heat ($14.00) who I didn't include. And even with the scratch of Legs Thatdont Quit, my alternate would have been Victory's Lady who missed by a close head..

Carryover at Santa Anita today which we will glance at, but in the meantime, here's a look at Sunday's GP action with two more stakes on the card...

GULFSTREAM P4

POST SCRATCHES...

7th: 7th Gaily Gaily, 3yo-F, 8.5f-T (P4)

A. #3 Dreaming of Anna 4-5: Not with our money at this ML
B. #4 Audacious Chloe 3-1: Hate having to use; working OK for return

LONGSHOT/EXOTICS ADD: #8 Bishop Estates 20-1: $275k Pulpit maiden had slow start, troubled trip in just miss debut; Wolfson wouldn't go here if not competitive

8th: ALW/N1X, 4+, 1m

1. #1e Hough entry 2-1: #1 (poe) tractable; gets Edgar; chased good ones; T2D
2. #2 Dr. Eli 6-1: Return to ALW company OK; repeat earns share, an advance, laurels
A. #7 SCRATCHED (SUB #5 Border Cat 9-5)
B. #3 The Bell Tolls 10-1: Square number on Zito-LaPenta colt adding Corny

9th: 19th Very One (Gr. III), 4+, 11f-T

2. #5 Royal Highness 9-5: Classy German import.. like pricy Leibfraumilche
A. #8 Cursora 15-1: Adapts to paces and note J'ray's Nola win Saturday
B. #1 Safari Queen 5-2: Again.. hate to have to include, but what can you do?

LONGSHOT/EXOTICS ADD: #9 Marchonin 20-1: Matz aces with layoffs and seems like right price to throw into tri/super bottoms

10th: MDN CLM, 3yo, 1m

1. #5 Divine Prayer 9-5: Ignore botched launch last start; Edgar sticks
2. #1 Sunsational 3-1: Steady and consistant; a stiff.. but steadily and consistantly
A. #3 Doc Tour 4-1: Last pair much improved; win threat on best 3rd in form cycle
B. #9 What's Next Mon 6-1: Two back OK v. these and owner-trainer adds sale sign

LONGSHOT/EXOTICS ADD: #2 El Rollo 15-1: Total stab as exotics fodder, but T2D and Cardoso hitting board with prices

That looks like one of the most solid pick-4 shots. Not that that means anything, because you've been hitting them left and right so I suppose they've all looked solid.

This one, for some reason, especially solid.

Steve - Looks like you have the Three in there twice in last leg of Pick3. I am assuming that is the 2 (longshot pick).

I am definitely playing these...

Thanks,

Pat

BWS,

Hope so.. Not crazy about singling last leg, but notice that Edgar is the SOLE 'big name' rider in the nightcap and I almost feel like he's here as a "sorry about last time" service to Ritvo (when Divine Prayer didn't get out). And as the race is a piglet-fest, if you don't stay narrow, you have to spread wide. Since I think there's prices to be had earlier in the sequence, I'll take my chances late... And cover with a Late P3 play or big doubles too...

Thanks Pat! It is/was the 2... I know it's my obligation to get these numbers right, but there are days when I have to get them out and up on the two websites and don't catch those on the proof-reads... As always, I remind readers to look at the names in the selections first rather than just blindly write out numbers... Sometimes, the Form botches them.. Newspapers botch them.. The racetrack program botches them.. And I botch them..

You're subbing Border Cat for the only other possible winner? Don't the scratches change the complexion of the race dramatically in Rabbi's favor?

And, quite frankly, shouldn't you always be using a horse named " Rabbi "? You are, after all, Heeba Claus.

If he owned that horse,he would never have to admit to going to the track. He could just be going to see his RABBI.

Default p4

with all the scratces in the 8th, #1 seems the lone speed, no ? & why is prado on #1 instead of #5, the dutrow/calvo ? looks kinda chalky p4,

the play

4,5,9 / 1, 5 / 1,4, 5 / 5 $18

#4 wins the 7th for pletcher, running down anna, 1 down 3 to go .

Steve I think your longshot 8 in the 9th has a real chance. Note the improvement as the distances get longer, granted she probably beat nothing in Argentina at 10F but seems to relish the distance and figures to be prominent on a very soft pace.
I like the 4 and 8.
