Default A great idea.. NYRA float in Hispanic Day parade

NYRA to host float in Sunday's 50th annual Hispanic Day Parade

ELMONT, N.Y. - In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, The New York Racing Association, Inc. will host a float in the 50th annual Hispanic Day Parade on Sunday, October 13, in New York City. The parade will include more than 10,000 participants showcasing their pride with festive apparel and live music.

This lively event will showcase many aspects of Hispanic culture with celebrity appearances, musical performances, marching bands and traditional costumes. Riding on NYRA's float will be the retired, multiple-Eclipse-Award-winning rider, Ramon Dominguez, who will represent the jockey colony from Belmont Park, Aqueduct Racetrack and Saratoga Race Course. Dominguez, a native of Venezuela, will be accompanied by children from the Belmont Child Care Association, representatives from The Race Track Chaplaincy of New York and members of the Backstretch Employee Service Team (B.E.S.T.).

"The parade provides an opportunity to support a demographic that is closely connected to our sport," said Rodnell Workman, NYRA Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. "We look forward to celebrating the parade's 50th anniversary with the Hispanic community."

More than one million parade goers will watch as floats, musical groups and community leaders make their way down Fifth Avenue in Manhattan between 44th and 77th Streets. The event, which will be broadcast live in both English and Spanish on multiple media outlets, kicks off at 11:00 a.m. and concludes at 5:00 p.m.
