![]() Can't ever recall seeing a 3-year-old filly earn black type in a non-state bred stake worth 75K against older -- and run in a $7,500 maiden claiming race all in the same week. That's what Maid On a Mission is entered to do today at Ellis Park.
![]() According to the condition book at Ellis Park -- entry date for this race was July 5th. Two back at Keeneland, this horse bolted over the fence in a race where the top two finishers both came back to win next out, and followed that up by running 1st and 2nd in the Grade 3 Regret Stakes at Churchill. It's entered in a dirt sprint no less -- when it's obviously bred to be a turf router. He can't seriously be running her, can he? I remember when Greg Gilchrist entered High Resolve in a $16,000 maiden claiming race before she debuted. High Resolve was the outright fastest unblinkered filly at the OBS April 2yo sale. She brought 135K... A LOT of money for a filly at OBS April. Gilchrist entered her to make the race go, scratched her, ran her back in a MSW race where she won under a full nelson hold by 9 lengths going 5.5 furlongs. High Resolve won 7 of her first 10 races, including 5 stakes races, the Sunshine Millions sprint among them. She made over 468K. |
