Default Thunder Gulch half to Tahitan Warrior at No. Cal County Fair

This Moss owned 4yo was bought for 210K as a yearling - career debut was for maiden claiming 8K tag last time out.

Was the 3/5 favorite back in for an 8k tag today and looked like an easy winner before bolting and sending a bunch of dudes diving under the rail.

I was at Pleasanton yesterday and talked with this horses trainer before the races and he really liked this colts big stride and hoped he could get the distance (it was only his second career race after going 6f previously).

I was talking with friends about it after the race, after he drifted to the outer rail in the stretch and appeared to stop running like he thought he was done for the day, and we understood why a $200k purchase was running in a $8k maiden in northern California as a four year old - this boys a head-case! I know he was bred well but if he doesn't turn it around soon, gelding may be in his future.

On a side note, this trainers only other horse in that day had to be scratched at post time because she bolted as they approached the gate, ran past the grandstand riderless and headed back to the barn. The unfortunate part was she got cut up pretty bad after jumping over some fences and required stitches. Looks like they may turn her out for sixty days and give her a little R&R before trying it again.

Yesterday was not a good day for trainer Steve Sherman

Yes - for a horse to sell for 210K as a yearling and debut for an 8k tag - there has to be major issues.
