Default SAT - Stakes Action

Hawthorne

R8 - G3 Carey Memorial

#3 Gold Hornet - Live longshot will chase the pace and come wide. Loves the course & distance.
#4 Ballast (Ire) - Motion runner has the speed and back class to get it done.
#5 Classic Campaign - Good shipper from the Mott barn must step up his game.
#2 Obi Wan Kenobi - Disappointed last week as the favorite at Kentucky Downs. SCR
#7 Masterpiece (Arg) - Cali invader brings jock with him, outside shot.

W/P on #3

R9 - Indian Maid

#5 Round Heels (Ire) - 7 wins from 20 turf starts for high % Block barn.
#8 Jennie R. - Compromised by the pace in her last, but she's had a nice year.
#11 Yanquee Reign - Closer shortens up after closing into soft fractions.
#12 Quelle Beute - Canadian invader stretches out and brings a 3 for 5 turf record.

Ex Box 5 with 8 11 12

R10 - G2 Hawthorne Gold Cup

#1 A.P. Arrow - Blinks come off for 2nd place finisher in last year's running.
#4 Extreme Supreme - Improving colt for Ward has won 2 of last 3.
#6 Student Council - Has he finally turned the corner or is he a synthetic specialist?

Win bet on #1

PK3 - 3 4 5 with 5 8 11 12 with 1 = $12 for a buck

Belmont

R8 - G1 Flower Bowl

#8 Royal Highness (Ger) - Beverly D winner was super in defeating Irridesence. Must duplicate that effort.
#6 Wait a While - Let everyone know that she's back to the top of the division in her last.
#9 Argentina ((Ire) - Making 2nd start of the year after a nice 2nd in the G1 Diana.
#3 Masseuse - G2 winner at Woodbine has an afinity for the Belmont lawn.

Ex Box & Tri Box 8 with 3 6 9

R9 - G1 Kelso

#11 Art Master - Won the Poker at Bel before, but must overcome the wide post again. SCR
#6 Trippi's Strom - The cutback should help the cause.
#5 After Market - Cali shipper must prove he can shorten up and handle eastern coast foes.
#1 Palace Episode - Former Group 1 winner looks capable for the Goldophin barn.

Ex Box 1 5 6

Turfway

R8 - Kentucky Cup Juvenile

#7 Blackberry Road - Draw a line through his Arlington Washington Futurity because of a rough trip. Nice workout last Monday and I'm expecting a big effort going two turns for the 1st time.

W/P on #7

R10 - Kentucky Cup Classic

#1 Hard Spun - Should be able to set comfortable fractions with this small field.
#3 Street Sense - Derby champ has bigger fish to fry come Oct 27th.

Santa Anita

R9 - G1 Goodwood

#4 Tiago - Shireffs has been patient with the talented 3yr old as he faces elders for the 1st time. He's been training well across town at Hollywood Park's cushion track which is very similar to the one installed at Santa Anita. He should sit a nice ground saving trip behind the speed.
#3 Lewis Michael - Is currently in razor sharp form and there's no reason to think he will fire a dud.
#8 Awesome Gem - Has been extremely consistent facing Cali's best.
#7 Lava Man - Was it the Del Mar Poly or are his skills diminishing? SCR
#1 Arson Squad - Didn't care for the Poly at Del Mar.

Ex Box 4 with 1 3 8

Presque Isle Downs

R7 - Fitz Dixon Jr. Memorial Juvenile

#7 Sok Sok - Little Nick will have plenty of company up front to set it up for the talented Asmussen runner. At 4-1 or better a sizeable win bet is the way to go.

Good Racing Luck

Default Gus......

What about a horse like Wayzata Bay in the Cup? He's won a couple smaller stakes in a row, I know he's stepping up to graded company for the first time, any shot tomorrow?

Mclem, He actually took a shot versus Graded company at Prairie Meadows in the G2 Cornhusker and ran a decent 5th. He's in good form at the moment, but you must demand better odds than his 5-1 ML.

Frankel scratched Art Master from the Kelso. I know Frankel is scratch happy, but Art Master drew the #11 post same as in the Woodbine Mile and that didn't work out to well. He might be headed to Keeneland next week for the G1 Shadwell?

Art Master scratching, Trippi's Storm would be your top choice now?

Yep and I added Palace Episode. I'm interested to see if #4 English Colony (GB), who is undefeated sprinting on the lawn handles graded company.

Default Blackberry Road

Gus, Calvin didn't do us any favors getting stuck on the rail with Blackberry Road...he had a ton of horse

In that same vain, it would have been nice if Eddie Perez had kept Gold Hornet a bit closer to the field, so he might have had a chance in the stretch.

Golfer, I totally agree with both assessments.

Blackberry Road is a bet back at two turns and Gold Hornet needed to be closer to the pace at 21-1.

And while I'm belly-aching about rides, how about Johnny V on SymphonyofPsalms???? What in the world led him to believe the seas would part for him on the rail in the 7th at Belmont? He also had a ton of horse!
This is a TOUGH game!

GH has never been anywhere near the pace in any of his starts. He was outclassed today, that is it. He is a very useful horse that was doing well and they took a shot. I personally think Perez is a moron and get gift rides from Block because he doesn't win on anything else. I can't remember who won on his last time (contest day) but it was a perfect ride, if I recall this is only his third start of the year, might be someone to watch down at FG when they go down there if he stays healthy.

There's a difference between not being near the pace, and GAPPING the field.
It never fails to astonish me when jockey's with closers gap the field, then shockingly come up short in the stretch

Default Nice Day Bogey

Trippi at Belmont, I did listen and loaded up on Sok Sok and Tiago at SA made for a nice late comback in the day for me and pulled me comfortably ahead. Hope you cashed also.

Watch all his other races and you will understand what I am saying. His last at Arlington is the exact same race, same gap and everything

Scav, what's up? Yeah, all of his wins have been coming off the pace very wide, I'm just not fan of Perez. I really thought today was GH's day. GH victories have been light of the tote board types.

Yep, they liked him today but weren't sure he could win. Lara had that winner earlier on the card. Looking back at his last race he was about 8 lengths back off the pace and it was moderate, today was pretty quick. If Graham was there and rode him today they are probably more competitive

PSH, ditto here. I didn't play the Tri in the Kelso and I thought I was doomed. I was able to make some scores late as well.

Gaines, glad you scored. I thought we'd get better than 2-1, but I'm sure Asmussen's boys pounded him.
