![]() Looks like the good general met with the Repub caucus, leaving out the Dems.
Doesn't look like the Dems are going to be all that happy about it, but after all, they've shown that it's the Bushie's war. http://thinkprogress.org/2007/04/01/petraeus-caucus/ And here we were, believing that it couldn't possibly get worse... Maybe Harriet, Gonzo, or Karl can find a way to spin this...as if they didn't already have enough on their plates. Can the GOP plead a class action 5th? |

![]() From Newsweek, via John Cole:
<<This really says it all about this administration: An article appearing in this week’s edition of Newsweek suggests that Attorney General Alberto Gonzales is struggling in preparatory sessions for his appearance before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday. Michael Isikoff in Newsweek’s Periscope column this week says that Gonzales performed poorly in initial preparation sessions for his testimony. “Gonzales kept contradicting himself and ‘getting his timeline confused,’ said one participant who asked not to be identified,” Isikoff reports. He also notes, “His advisers finally got ‘exasperated’ with him, the source added.” Justice Department staff were nervous according to Isikoff, and had canceled all public appearances scheduled for this week. Isikoff also describes Gonzales as increasingly isolated. “The department is in a state of paralysis,” said one “frustrated senior administration official.” Why, exactly, does one need to prepare to tell the truth. I give you two choices: 1.) You are so stupid that you can not accurately remember time sequences. 2.) You have an AWFUL lot to lie about. At any rate, the chief law enforcement officer of the country needs to prepare so he does not perjure himself. He is just damned lucky no one has accused him of getting a blow job.>> It's enough to make a girl miss John "I annoint myself with oil before I go to work singing 'Let the Eagle Soar' and demanding the American people pay $6,000 for a drape to cover up Justice's boobie because it's very distracting to Little John" Ashcroft.

This house of cards is comin' crashin' down faster than it takes the time to blow em down. Did ya catch Dubya's comments about "upholding the rule of law" today when he was speaking on the illegal immigrant issue? Question: Georgie, if the "law" needs to be enforced in that situation, does it need to be applied in other areas? Follow up: Who exactly is above the rule of law? Another follow up: What were the words that you put your hand on the Bible to uphold at your inauguration? |

![]() Today had plenty. I was going to post about the sopeonas (sp) issued by the House so that DoJ will furnish the requisite documents, as demanded.
But no, you can google that one yourself. Today's "Scandal d'Jour" hits a little closer to home. The NIH (National Institute of Health) that provides funding for research regarding many diseases has had their budget drastically cut so the funding could sustain major wars that have killed almost 3,300 Americans and many, many Iraqis and Afghanistanis. Seems that our current administration has no problem with killing people....but don't dare touch those precious embryos...kill them so that cures for horrible diseases can be found. No, leave those frozen "babies" alone! Deny the scientists access and funding. Does anyone besides me see a little irony here? One line of thinking only TAKES lives while the other has the potential to sustain it. Shame on Bush and his cohorts for the duplicty, the tragedy caused by their misguided priorities. SHAME!!!!!!!! http://www.reuters.com/article/topNe...0?pageNumber=1 |

![]() The Nixon legacy is back in the news. Now that Gerry (magic bullet) Ford
is safely rotting under the turf outside his glorious library, I wonder who is going to offer the pardon this time. Can I get a PARDON? Well, Gonzo might just have to get in line behind Scooter, DeLay...many more. Seems to me that all Duby has going for him, his legacy beyond the failure of the "gated communities" of Baghdad, his capable response to Katrina, the increased deployments to 15 months to perpetuate his debacle, his treatment of the wounded at Walter Reed, on and on, is his power to grant pardons along the lines of the great president that excused (pardoned) tricky Dick. I wonder who will pardon the frat boy when he shows up in the Hague with Rummy, Condi, and all the other criminals. http://rawstory.com/news/2007/Leahy_...like_0412.html |

![]() This should be a lesson to all in 2008.
If you have a candidate that is fiercely loyal and hires incompetent friends even at the "lowest" levels of government, it can lead to big problems. The problems mentioned above are big. FEMA was considered small and look at what happened there. A question everyone must ask is how much does this candidate owe to friends that will be placed in important positions because of contributions or work within the campaign. Many of these people who are great in campaigns, are horrible administrators as we have found out. The only guy that clearly does not like fund raising (but also sees it as a necessity) is McCain imo. And then you have to determine if his policies align with yours. This is really tough... making these types of assessments and decisions. |

Johnny McC hung his hat on the success of the "surge" and took a bogus walk through the "safe" market in Iraq. He also came out as a big defender of Imus, and you see what happened there. Johnny's campaign is tanking, he's laying off campaign workers. It's just a matter of time before he's gone. The refug's have just about given up on 2008. What are they going to run on? Illegal immigration? They're politically bankrupt and the emporor has no clothes. Too bad. Let the war crimes trials begin...furgttabout ipeazement. |

![]() Speaking of "illegal immigration" and wall building, who was that dead president that demanded of Gorby, "Tear down this wall!"?
Right...he's dead...too bad. And speaking of karma... Far too many today. Is today's scandal about Wolfowitz and his "girlfriend"?....Nah, the World bank can do with out him....SHOCK AND AWE! Or is it Rove? Hey, what about all those missing e-mails? Barney ate 'em??? More karma. Nope, today's scandal d'jour is Harlan K Ulman...the "shock and awe" architect. Talk about karma! http://www.balloon-juice.com/?p=8086#comments Now, where is Mark Foley when we really need him? Did he really decide to become a priest? I wonder what his take would be on the chocolate Jesus if he consulted Exodus 20:4. Is it ok if it's made out of wood, ivory, plastic hanging from a rearview mirror?....heck, I vote for whipped cream and blueberries. Anybody hear from Haggert lately? WWPRD (What would Pat Robertson do?). Stay tuned! there's always tomorrow. |

![]() Yikes!
It's still today. Sad to report that there isn't a "Plan B". Heck, there ain't a "Plan H" nor a "Plan R" either. The Refugs are just keeping on, and as Vonnegut would say, "and so it goes". I really coundn't possibly make this up. You just have to read it for yourself.... http://www.nytimes.com/2007/04/15/us...mccain.html?hp All right now...some of you will say, "Hey, DTS, how do we get out of this mess?" Ok, I'll tell you. Follow the logic. Do retired people like to gamble? Have you come across old folks with nothing better to do than hang out at OTB, or Turning Stone, or Vegas, or even the grandstand at Finger Lakes? Sure they do! Ok...and do you think that our brave troops miss their families while they serve a "noble cause" in a far-away land? My guess is that they miss grandma and grandpa too. Now, is social security and medicare in trouble? That's a "no brainer". So here it is...the solution to the "War in Iraq". We take all the old folks that miss their grand-sons and grand-daughters and send them to Iraq, where Halliburton gets a "no-bid" contract to construct a great casino right outside the "green zone". No penthouse suites...the underground bunker would be the perk. And the ride from the airport to the casino would be a very nice gamble, like betting against an IED going BOOM. The reunions with families would be worth the risks. If a few of the old folks get lost, too bad. They've already lived long enough. It would save those "leeches" from draining social security and medicare from those that really deserve it. Maybe the ones at Walter Reed could have the saved funds directed to their needs. Yup...you get the picture now. Let's turn Iraq into a gambling destination for the old folks. They have the time. A plane flight to Iraq would take about as long as one to Atlantic City, right? Thsi is a solution that makes sense! Write your congressmen! Iraq....the new "GAMBLING MECCA"!!!! REUNITE FAMILIES!!! |

Yikes! I'm crushed. Though I have a picture of you as my screen saver in your cheerleader outfit...you know the one, legs spread, panties showing...nothing to hide... Well, with all the talk of "ho's" lately, my head is spinning. SPINNING! I tell ya, sweet Katie. I never knew. You were my "girl next door". So sweet, so....??? Yup, I thught you tipped your hand when you grilled the Edwards family when they announced their cancer battle. I thought you'd have a bit more sympathy, considering your late husband and what happened to his rectum to bring about his demise. So what if you have a new "boyfriend", twenty years your junior. Does that entitle you to continue spreading???? Lies, I mean.... http://www.huffingtonpost.com/eat-th...e_e_45836.html Katie, I'm crushed I tell ya! I hope to see ya at 54th and 8th sometime soon. Katie, do you want to negotiate what a Franklin could buy me? I'm sure you'd be worth it. Spread em baby! Spread em. I'm totally devastated, but I look forward to all the "good times" you continue to provide. See ya on the street, Katie babe. Shucks, now I need to change my screen saver. |

![]() Seems to me that I'm a lot like Morty...having my very own thread to rage.
Fine with me. In light of today's events, watch for a new call to ban 9mm handguns. Such a shame. Looking at the weapon, not the shooter. Can we get Anna Nicole back from the taxidermist so we have other concerns to discuss? Thank goodness Jerry Ford got dead before a dna sample could be taken to establish his "fatherhood". Or maybe we should talk about Imus some more. Is he a shooter or a weapon too? It's all the same. What exactly is the line between the finger on the trigger or the one that decides to pull it? There doesn't seem to be much destinction. It's all debatable. Anyway, far more important events are transpiring as I sit here at the keyboard. This will probably effect you more than the gas prices at the pump, or the melting glaciers that may be caused by that decision as well. This is well worth the time it takes to read it: http://www.truthdig.com/report/item/...erican_empire/ Have a "nice" day. More distractions later. |
