You're right - he was scratched from both the NZ Derby and Australian Derby the day before both of those races last season! So it's great that his luck turned around today.
His mother, Sayyida, was a hugely talented filly who looked like a real rising star. But then she broke her leg in the G2 Avondale Guineas. They were able to save her life, and one of her first foals was Ocean Park.
We have a few nice stakes races in the next couple of weeks, but the next really big race is the G1 Windsor Park Plate, back at Hastings on Sep 22. Early nominations for that one:
