Racing Incident Report
MAVERICK STAR was withdrawn on 2.7.08 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter CRUSADER OF GOLD (Z Purton). Before being allowed to race again, MAVERICK STAR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. KING HOGAN was slow to begin. From the outside barrier, in the early stages, LOTZATOW was taken back. After the 1600 Metres, DASH AHEAD was steadied when awkwardly placed inside SUPREME GAINS which improved inside the heels of DISGUISE. Shortly after this, SUPREME GAINS was steadied when crowded for room inside DISGUISE which shifted in momentarily. DASH AHEAD, which was following, was steadied in consequence. Near the 1300 Metres, CLEAN SWEEP became unbalanced when awkwardly placed close to the heels of TOM SIX. LU YUE made the Home Turn awkwardly and shifted wider. Shortly after straightening, SUPREME GAINS was steadied and shifted to the outside of NILOMETER which was giving ground. Throughout the race, DISGUISE travelled wide and without cover. W M Lai (KING HOGAN), 11th placegetter, was fined $3,000 for failing to weigh in as required following the race. CRUSADER OF GOLD, LU YUE and CLEAN SWEEP were sent for sampling.
