Regarding today's ninth race : I have posted several times that when Javier Castellano gets the lead and wants to control the pace, he can assume the lowest riding posture of any rider on the entire NYRA circuit. Aboard Spring to the Sky, he was completely tucked down behind the horse's head for 4.5f after the break. His posture in the saddle has to reduce wind resistance and be worth a length in a sprint race like we just saw - his mounts simply catch less wind over the top.
Compare his ride with Taylor Rice heading into the far turn - she is nearly standing up in the stirrups in comparison.
