The horses' 2 previous races were both pace meltdowns. And it couldn't win. He's a stone closer and needs a total collapse. To expect him to be closer early is unrealistic.
I knew that going in but I just figured there was nothing else in the race. And having watched Shug's horse circle the field, I was hoping for a closers' track. But that horse just crushed them.
