There is nothing quite like arresting and prosecuting innocent people to create press and get your name out there. The press only cares about the arrest and the arraignment in the majority of cases and then never reports when people are found innocent later on.
Spitzer doesn't care that he ruined an innocent person's life, he only cared about getting his name out there on his way to the top, before the real man sank him back to the bottom. Let's hope that our fellow New Yorker's reject his attempt to become relevant again. It is scary to think that I don't have confidence that New Yorker's will do the right thing with this creep.
