Well, I support a universal draft in principle...I think EVERYONE should give two years of service to their nation BUT...it has to be universal in the sense that rich folks don't get excluded! If they produce a plan where every single person upon completion of high school or at their 20th birthday (whichever comes first) is called...I support that! But no damn exceptions except for folks on their death beds!!! In a wheelchair...you still serve, blind...you serve, no paying a doctor thousands of dollars to invent some medical reason, no exclusions whatsoever!!! AND...once in the service of your country, you are assigned duty based SOLELY on your abilities...no, "Oh your daddy is CEO of Halliberton, you sit behind this desk while the next guy gets his butt blown off in Iraq!" The idea of service to country is certainly valid...but raising an army of poor folks to die for the ever increasing wealth of OWG's (old white guys) is obscene! If we have leaders who aren't either retarded or in the pocket of special interests (some both...), then 99.9% of this service would be peaceful and constructive!
