santa anita is privately held and although you never know what the owner may determine is the best use for the land, stronach hasn't made any noises about developing anything more than a portion of the parking lot. and that fell through.

btw: there are parts of the san fernando valley that are rougher than the area from the 405 to hollywood park. inglewood tracks marginally higher than the state average on crime rates. west hollywood, stockton, and barstow are just 3 examples of areas that rank higher. it's not malibu but it's hardly the "worst place".
Yes but I cant imagine Santa Anita or Del Mar will benefit from Hollywood Park closing either. The proposed replacement wont be the same caliber of racing as Hollywood Park offered. Fairplex type of racing 5 months a year does not sound appealing to me. Golden Gate should take over Hollywood Park dates in the summer and fall. At least they have a larger track and a decent turf course already in place.
