You get as many points for running 4th in this race as you do for winning the Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies.

Pure Fan, who scorched in her only career dirt race beyond 5 furlongs, and won the Grade 1 Hollywood Starlet, at a route, shipping across country, and running on a surface that probably isn't even her best, in her final 2yo start might not get in.

The Sam Houston horse who get drowned by 13 lengths while 3rd in the Sunland Park Oaks got as many "Oaks" points for that race as Pure Fun did for winning a Grade 1 route in December.

Obviously, McPeak gave her a rest and put her away after the Grade 1 route win ... but she ran 8 times at age 2...so you can't say he was babying her.

If Pure Fun doesn't get in the race, it's a complete joke.

And the worst thing is, you knew all along she might not make it. She was only going to have one-prep ... that one-prep was going to come in a two-turn route off of a layoff, and on a synthetic surface which I don't believe she handles quite as well as dirt.
