I did a board search for Dede Biles and this was her first 'Horses to Watch' list from a sale.

Since these horses are all 3-year-olds in the second half of the season now ... I thought I'd find out the names and record of the 28 horses.

The information is below.

Following is a list of horses that buyers and consignors think could bring big prices during the second session of the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky July select yearling sale July 14 in Lexington:


Hip No. 208, a colt by Tale of the Cat – Elusive Song, by Elusive Quality. Consigned by Gainesway, agent for Eldon Farm Equine. This bay yearling is from the family of grade II winners Tomorrows Cat and Teton Forest.


Hip No. 221, a filly by Malibu Moon – Five Star Dream, by Two Punch. Consigned by Candyland Farm.

“She is a big, strong, elegant, athletic, powerful filly that we raised, and she’s been brought up the right way,” said Candyland’s farm manager, Mike Palmer of this dark bay or brown yearling, whose dam is a stakes winner. “I think that whoever gets her is going to be able to go on and do whatever they want to with her. She’s been well-received, and she’s been handling things very, very well.”


Hip No. 229, a colt by Elusive Quality – Freudenau, by Meadowlake. Consigned by Brookdale Sales, agent for Epona Equine. This bay yearling is a half brother to the winner Danon Isao (by Swain), who was stakes-placed in Japan.


Hip No. 231, a colt by Medaglia d'Oro – Future Act, by Known Fact. Consigned by Denali Stud, agent.

“He’s a Louisiana-bred and that seems to have caught their (the prospective buyers’) attention,” said Denali’s Craig Bandoroff of this half bother to stakes winners Immediate Reaction (by Cozzene) and Cliffy’s Future (by The Cliff's Edge ). “He’s a big, good-looking horse. He probably has enough pedigree and a good enough phyiscal to have gone to Saratoga (for the Fasig-Tipton select yearling sale in New York), but we just decided to stay here and try to be a bigger fish in a smaller pond.”


Hip No. 232, a colt by Malibu Moon – Futures Market, by Unbridled. Consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent.

“This colt just looks really fast and has got great balance, and his sire is really hot,” said Taylor Made Sales Agency’s Mark Taylor. “He’s the prototype of what you want at this sale. He’s very forward looking, and he’s got a great body and a great temperament.”


Hip No. 243, a colt by Sky Mesa – Hello Barbara Sue, by Dehere. Consigned by Gainesway, agent.
This yearling is a half brother to grade III winner Buddy’s Humor (by Distorted Humor ) and his dam is a half sister to grade II winner Diamond on the Run (by Kris S.) and two other added-money winners.


Hip No. 245, a filly by Medaglia d'Oro – High in the Park, by Ascot Knight. Consigned by Brereton C. Jones/Airdrie Stud, agent.

“She not only has all the physical attributes, but the pedigree attributes and a totally clean vet sheet,” said Jones of this half sister to grade I winner Divine Park (by Chester House). “So, hopefully, all the stars are aligned; it just depends on how strong the market is or isn’t.”

This bay yearling is a half brother to the winner Primer Querubin (by Toccet ), who was stakes-placed in Puerto Rico.


Hip No. 262, a colt by With Distinction – Lady Cheryl, by Williamstown. Consigned by Legacy Bloodstock, agent.

“He’s got the strength of the Storm Cat line with stretch,” said Legacy’s Tommy Eastham of this dark bay or brown yearling, whose dam was a stakes winner. “He’s a great mover by an exciting young sire. This horse has a high energy level. He’ll show himself great at seven o’clock in the morning, and he’ll do the same at seven o’clock at night.”


Hip No. 271, a filly by Lemon Drop Kid – Little Cat Feet, by Tale of the Cat. Consigned by Warrendale Sales, agent.

This filly is a half-sister to the winner Hyperlink (by Toccet), and their dam is a half sister to two stakes winners, Arch Rebel (by Arch ) and On My Dime (by Mizzen Mast ). Their dam also is a half sister to the stakes-placed winner Livin for Love (by Tactical Advantage), who is a stakes producer.


Hip No. 274, a colt by Unbridled's Song – Lost in the Storm, by Storm Cat. Consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent.

“I think most people realize how great Unbridled’s Song has crossed with Storm Cat,” said Taylor Made’s Mark Taylor. “This colt is a very good representative of what that cross usually gets. He’s gray like Unbridled’s Song and he’s got some leg, but he’s got a real Storm Cat kind of body on him and looks precocious. I think he’s one of the nicer colts we have in the consignment plus he’s got more sire power than just about anything in the sale.”


Hip No. 279, Alwayslookingforme, a filly by With Distinction – Magic Merger, by Corporate Report. Consigned by Eaton Sales, agent.

“She has all the height and scope of her daddy, but is a very effeminate filly with a lovely, long stride,” said Eaton Sales’ Reiley McDonald of this half sister to grade I winner Hooh Why (by Cloud Hopping) and stakes winner Rumbling Cloud (by Cloud Hopping). “Apparently her mother can’t miss (as a producer).”


Hip No. 283, a filly by Harlan's Holiday – Malibu Karen, by Seeking the Gold. Consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent for Spendthrift Farm.

“She’s a nice physical with a strong body, and she’s very well balanced,” said Taylor Made’s Frank Taylor of this bay yearling, whose dam is a half sister to grade I winner Marquetry (by Conquistador Cielo), a full sister to French group II winner Spain Lane, and a half sister to Reggie V, the dam of grade II winner Five Star Day.

“She’s a lovely, athletic, racy filly that is very, very typical of the sire. She’s a real quality filly,” said Select Sales’ James Keogh of this bay yearling, whose dam is a half sister to Canadian graded winner Honolua Storm(by Old Trieste).

“He’s a very big, strong, sound-looking, beautiful-moving colt,” said Gainesway’s Brian Graves of this gray or roan yearling, whose dam was a stakes winner. “He’s a very athletic colt by a stallion that has, obviously, risen to the top.”

“A lot of people have remarked she’s very much like Stormy Pick (a grade I winner who is a half sister to this dark bay or brown yearling’s dam),” said Paramount’s Pat Costello. “She’s a quality filly with a very nice walk to her.”


Hip No. 308, a filly by Put It Back – Miz Betty Grace, by Matty G. Consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent.

“She’s a very nice filly that’s got a long, clean neck on her, and she’s got a great shoulder and hip,” said Taylor Made’s Mark Taylor of this bay yearling, who is from the family of grade II winner Warbling (by Unbridled’s Song). “She looks like a runner.”


Hip No. 327, a colt by Successful Appeal – Racing Quality, by Elusive Quality. Consigned by Eaton Sales, agent.

“Successful Appeal is the leading sire of 2-year-olds in the country, and this horse is a great example of what the Successful Appeals should look like except for the fact that he has a little more length. That would lead you to believe that he’s built to carry his speed over a distance,” said Eaton’s Reiley McDonald. “He’s a very smooth, very correct horse with a great shoulder and a massive hip.”


Hip No. 330, a filly by Rock Hard Ten – Requesting More, by Norquester. Consigned by Bluewater Sales, agent. This filly is out of a stakes winner and is a half sister to three winners.


Hip No. 342, a filly by Dixie Union – Santa Rosa Island, by Valiant Nature. Consigned by Dromoland Farm, agent. This bay yearling’s dam is a half sister to the dam of champion and dual classic winner Afleet Alex (by Northren Afleet) and another stakes producer, Cue the Groom.


Hip No. 346, a filly by Indian Charlie – See Moon, by Deputy Minister. Consigned by Denali Stud, agent.

“She’s a big, pretty, correct, good-looking filly,” said Denali’s Craig Bandoroff. “I think she’s the right kind of horse in the right kind of sale.”


Hip No. 365, a colt by El Corredor – Spikes, by Dixie Union . Consigned by Paramount Sales, agent.

“He’s a big, strong colt with a good body,” said Paramount’s Pat Costello. “It’s hard to pick on him. He seems to be on everybody’s list.”


Hip No. 382, a filly by Giant's Causeway – Tatou, by El Corredor. Consigned by Highclere Sales, agent.

“She’s a lovely filly, and she’s never had a problem,” said Highclere’s Jeffry Morris of this half sister to added-money winner Audacious Chloe (by More Than Ready ). “She’s come in here and shown herself well. The traffic and the interest have been very supportive, so we’re optimistic. She’s everything you want her to be. She’s got size and she’s got bone, and she’s been nice since day one.”


Hip No. 390, a colt by Malibu Moon – Trisha Quick, by Deputy Minister. Consigned by Select Sales, agent.

“I love his stallion, and I love the fact that Malibu Moon moves his mares up,” said Select Sales’ Carrie Brogden. “This colt looks just like Malibu Moon, to me. He has been uncomplicated his whole life; he’s never had a bandage on or had a ding. He’s never been sick. He’s just been one of those horses that’s gone through his life and done what he’s needed to do.”


Hip No. 392, a filly by Empire Maker – Turn to Lass, by Bright Launch. Consigned by Hurstland Farm, agent. This bay yearling’s dam is a full sister to grade III winner Spotsgone and stakes winner Launch a Double.


Hip No. 404, a filly by Indian Charlie – West’s Secret, by West by West. Consigned by Mulholland Springs.

“She’s a very lovely filly, and she’s very pleasant-minded,” said Mulholland Springs’ Martha Jane Mulholland of this bay yearling, whose dam is an added-money winner and a half sister to grade II winner Top Secret (by Afleet). “She was very easy to work with and get fit for the sale, and she moves beautifully.”

The first horse (Tale of the Cat out of Elusive Song) is named Sing Song Cat. 0-for-12 lifetime. Finished 9th in a maiden claiming race at Lone Star Park last time out.

The second horse (sold for 225K) is named Stellabymoonlight -- she is 0-for-6 lifetime. Last seen running 5th beaten 8.5 lengths in a 5.5 furlong MSW turf race at Saratoga.

The third horse is named Venture World. This Elusive Quality colt is 1-for-8 lifetime and was last seen running 3rd in a 20K N2L claiming race.

The fourth horse is named Battle Act. Starlight racing bought this son of Madaglia D'Oro. He won a $12,500 N2L claiming race at Louisiana Downs last time out.

The fifth horse is named Legislature. This son of Malibu Moon out of an Unbridled mare is still unraced.

The sixth horse is named Monty Boy. This horse is also still unraced.

The seventh horse is named Wahoo Gold. This son of Medaglia D' Oro who is a half brother to a Met Mile winner is still unraced.

The eight horse is named One Giant Leap. This son of Malibu Moon is still unraced.

The ninth horse is named Andrsondistinction. She is 0-for-2 lifetime and "Was found in a livestock auction in Sherman, NY.. after being purchased from a similar auction in Meadville PA.. Purchased for $525 by C. Leason with intentions for eventual light riding." Meadville PA is 30 minutes from my house -- and I never even knew they had a horse acution!!

The 10th horse is named Customer Base. Finally a great buy. This Lemon Drop Kid filly sold for just $170,000 ... she has won 3 of 9 lifetime starts and was 5th in the 85K Sandy Blue Handicap at Del Mar a few weeks ago. Career earnings of $124,000 so far.

The 11th horse is Fire On Ice. Had the look of a promising horse when he won his debut big at Saratoga first-time out for John Kimmel. This son of Unbridled's Song unfortunately got hurt training for the Champagne and has not started again.

The 12th horse is named Alwayslookingforme. Just broke the maiden at Mountaineer Park in July, but hasn't run back since.

The 13th horse is named Malibu Holiday (Malibu Moon out of Seeking The Gold mare) and is 1-for-9 last time out. Last seen running 5th in a claiming race at Saratoga.

The 14th horse is named Currahee Assault -- this Proud Citizen won a $12,500 Maiden Claiming race at Parx last time out.

The 15th horse is named Speight Me. This son of Speightstown has never hit the board in 5 career starts. Was dead last at the maiden claiming level when last seen.

The 16th horse is named So Brilliant. Our first Graded Stakes winner! This son Medaglia D' Oro won the Grade 3 Hollywood Prevue for Bob Baffert by a half length over Brother Francis last November. Unfortunately, it also got hurt and hasn't run back. Has made $87,000 in career earnings. Purchased for just $200,000 out of this sale by Zayat.

The 17th horse is named Monetize the Debt and is still unraced.

The 18th horse is named Spicetown -- this daughter of Speightstown is 0-for-5 lifetime and was last seen finishing 8th in a maiden claiming race at Laurel Park.

The 19th horse is named It's Saturday Nite and is winless in two starts. Last seen finishing 3rd in a MSW at Saratoga last month.

The 20th horse is named Elusive Success. This horse is 0-for-2 lifetime and was last seen finishing 4th in a MSW race in February.

The 21st horse is a still unraced daughter of Rock Hard Ten.

The 22nd horse is named Heather's Feather and was last seen running 4th in a claiming race at Parx last November.

The 23rd horse is named Hello Charlie. This Indian Charlie out of a Deputy Minister mare is still unraced.

The 24th horse is named Powerpointer -- 1-for-11 lifetime and was last seen finishing 5th in a claiming race at Hooiser Park.

The 25th horse is named Need a Reason. This Giant's Causeway has finished 7th in MSW races in both career starts at Arlington Park.

The 26th horse is named Fly High. This son of Malibu Moon is still a maiden, but was 2nd at Hollywood Park in his only start. But that was more than 3 months ago.

The 27th horse is Conquesta. This daughter of Empire Maker is 0-for-7 lifetime and finished 12th beaten 27 lengths last out.

The 28th and final horse is named Cathy's Cornbread. This daughter of Indian Charlie finished 4th in her debut at Belmont -- but hasn't raced in almost a year and has no current workouts either.
