Here is a race that included the mare Esposa and the legendary stallion Bull Lea.

Esposa won the Remsen at age 2 and finished 3rd in the Hopeful. She was 2nd in the 1935 Whitney. 2nd in the 1936 Whitney. Won the 1937 Whitney. And was 2nd in the 1938 Whitney. Four straight years of top 2 finishes in the Whitney.

Bull Lea is arguably the greatest stallion in racing history. He sired a record SEVEN different horses in the Hall of Fame. He sired 3 different Kentucky Derby winners. 1 Triple Crown winner (Citation) and the first filly to ever be voted Horse of the Year (Twilight Tear)

Esposa made 6 starts at the 1938 Saratoga meet -- and faced War Admiral 4 different times. After leaving Saratoga, she next won the Hawthorne Gold Cup before running into Seabiscuit.

Bull Lea wasn't even one of the 10 best male horses Esposa faced in her long career. He just sired numerous horses who happened to be a lot better than himself on the track.
