Default 7/1: Belmont Park ($46k C/O)

If you are looking for them, there are many satisfying ways to be involved in racing. Whether you're a horseplayer working to be proficient selecting and wagering or a stakeholder trying for achievement owning, breeding, buying and selling, the game can reward you in ways that enrich your life. In fact, it does it like no other career endeavor or avocation and certainly like no other sport. The last two days for me personally have touched on both areas catching the modest P6 Friday and being a part of a Dee Tee win Saturday at Belmont Park with Toy Cannon. I don't have the opportunity now to elaborate on the satisfactions tied to the Thunder Gulch gelding's victory, but I'll briefly say it meant a lot to me on many levels to watch him romp home Saturday on one of the grandest stages in the game. Congratulations and thanks to all the partners and majority owner Paul Pompa who made it possible. Thanks to many that had a hand in the win including Junior Alvarado with the great ride, Bill Mott and his staff upstate and down, Woody Payne who developed Cannon, Gary Sciacca who picked him out with me and many more... The day also included a healthy P4 hit at Belmont ahead of some leaking at Hollywood. Hope everyone did well! Another nice carryover Sunday at Belmont is attacked below.

BELMONT PARK

POST-SCRATCHES

5th: NY-ALW/N1X, F&M-3+, 6f-IT (P6, P3, DD)

$46k P6 C/O starts here

Akira's races last fall would be good here, favorites solid and I'll miss 9yo Flying Sappho when she finally retires..

Best Value: #1 Akira 8-1 3rd
Next Best: #4 Flying Sappho 10-1 7th
Exotics Use: #7 Scat Lassie 5-2 2nd
Super Add: #2 Avie's Halo 6-1 5th

6th: CLM/N2L, F&M-3+, 1m-T (G/S, P3, DD)

Very scary event for the P6 with favored #7 Missysmoonlitmagic (5-2) and #10 Night Brigade (9-5) virtually even at the top and required on the play. Then you could easily be coerced into (from post postion order) #6 My Donna Jean (20-1), #9 The Winged Venus (8-1), #1 Some Legend (30-1), #11 Alex's Buck (10-1) and #12 Sally's Dream (12-1)..

Most Likely: #10 Night Brigade 9-5 2nd
Next Best: #7 Missysmoonlitmagic 5-2 WON ($8.60)
Best Value: #12 Sally's Dream 12-1 5th
Exotics Use: #9 The Winged Venus 8-1 4th

7th: NY-MSW, F&M-3+, 6f (P4, P3, DD)

A. Dutrow fave Cinematize should be tough 2nd time out and will be a single on many tickets; Clear Pasaj gets first dirt try for Levine; Erin Enchanted makes first start for Schosberg and has been steady on the worktab; C. Brown FTS Wild Grace may not have to be that special to beat this group..

Most Likely: #9 Cinematize 9-5 4th
Best Value: #8 Clear Pasaj 20-1 2nd
Next Best: #7 Erin Enchanted 15-1 WON ($40.40)
Exotics Use: #11 Wild Grace 3-1 3rd

$1 Exacta (7-8) Paid $359.00
$1 Trifecta (7-8-11) Paid $4,607.50
$1 Superfecta (7-8-11-9) Paid $7,879.00

8th: CLM/N2L, F&M-3+, 6.5f (P3, DD)

Most Likely: #1 Late SCR
Best Value: #9 Ashcraft Silver 6-1 6th
Next Best: #7 St. Jean 5-2 WON ($4.90)
Exotics Use: #3 African Jazz 15-1 5th

9th: 56th Bed o' Roses (G3), F&M-3+, 7f (DD)

C C's Pal will take money and some will single, but there are viable options to her. Catinatree goes 2nd time Hushion, 2nd/break (gaudy 37% W's) and may be loose on the lead. Uber-dangerous at an overlaid number. Steve Klesaris' Derwin's Star gets Ramon and like seven-eighths..

Best Value: #6 Catinatree 10-1 6th
Next Best: #4 Derwin's Star 3-1 WON ($6.90)
Exotics Use: #7 C C's Pal 8-5 3rd
Super Add: #2 Island Bound 7-2 5th

10th: NY-MSW, F&M-3+, 6f-IT

Don't have to be clever here, but the question is how deep you go. Bond's 2-1 Ornelia is deserving fave but getting overdue; Graham Motion debuts a Johar for Gallagher's Stud that took a long time to get to the races but is working consistently and may not have to be much to win. Note too that Ramon opts for her over Ornelia; Trombetta's outposted Drinksonthehouse best races are competitive; Hertler's Jitney has chased good ones on the main and moves to the lawn with Rosario and may like it. (Also note Jitney exits Cinematize race 5/27 and may get extra credit if that one runs well in the 7th); Kimmel first time 3yo Kibosh, by Discreet Cat out of a Kris S. mare, is another going green with a license to like it and adds the hood to boot; O'Brien's Pegasus Diamond can win with improvement off her race 2 back; Have I mentioned that Linda Rice has Going Going Gone and A.P. Hutchy making their first turf starts? And watch out for AE's Desert Bliss and/or Cape Cod Carol should they draw in. Tough end to a challenging sequence..

Most Likely: #4 Ornelia 2-1 WON ($3.60)
Next Best: #8 Johar Beauty 6-1 10th
Best Value: #10 Late SCR
Exotics Use: #7 Kibosh 15-1 6th

<$150 P6 Play:

5: 1-4
6: 7-10
7: 9
8: 1-7-9
9: 4-6-7
10: 4-8

2x2x1x3x3x2 = 72 x $2 = $144

<$150 P4 Play:

7: 8-9
8: 1-7-9
9: 4-6-7
10: 4-5-7-8-10-12-13-14

2x3x3x8 = 144 x .50 = $72

Good luck!
Steve
