Fly Down did not save all the ground on both turns, especially not the second turn. He wasn't crazy wide, but I wouldn't term his trip a ground-saving one.

El Amarillista and Shibl Noofa (Amor De Pobre) were sent off as rabbits for Robust Wish, and I think it's pretty difficult to deny that Fly Down was too close to the pace. Because so many horses share common ownership, (there were eight owners of the 18 horses), team tactics are frequently used in racing there. Combine that with the profile of this race in previous years, the wide move is often times the most successful one.

In the end, I would've liked to see Fly Down win because of his past in the US, but I can tell you the owner doesn't care, cause he had the top two anyway. That being said, I still think it was a bum ride, especially in light of where the winner came from to win.
