There was no big premature move on the backstretch. He began pushing the horse when they approached the far turn and was following the flow of the race. He was certainly wide and the horse was an unlucky loser because of the way he finished up.
It almost looked like he was running in spots. He looked finished top of the stretch and then got into the bridle again and finished up fast.
Tough beat? Sure. But I don't know if it was rider error.
