But while galloping out, jockey Johnny Velazquez felt the colt was uncomfortable, pulled him up and called for the ambulance rather than returning to the winner’s circle. The colt was taken back to the barn and found to have a fractured foreleg that isn’t life-threatening. The disappointment was still weighing heavily on Repole even as he headed to the paddock for the Jim Dandy.
