Apprentice Leung today pleaded guilty to a charge of having breached Hong Kong Jockey Club Rule of Racing 60(1) in that the sample supplied by him, as directed by the Stewards, at the Sha Tin racemeeting on 5 September 2010 had upon analysis shown the presence of ketamine and norketamine, a metabolite of ketamine. The Stewards decided in the circumstances of this case the appropriate penalty was for Apprentice Leung’s jockey’s licence to be suspended for a period to expire on 8 March 2011 on which day he may resume riding. The commencement of this suspension was back dated to 8 September 2010 on which day Apprentice Leung was stood down from riding by order of the Stewards.
