That wasn't enough to get you the winner in most cases. Plenty of races with any number of horses that could go to the front. And, plenty of races where horses were allowed to loaf on the front end while jocks were taking back.

And, there was also the odd race where all the speed went and the race collapsed; against the bias.

Wasn't easy at all, IMO.
