I don't consider a COLA increase being greedy by any means, but unfortunately a lot of people are in the same boat this year. My wife didn't get one either and she definitely deserves at least that. As far as government employment/benefits go, the overall tax base isn't any bigger this year because corporations did poorly and used more tax credits on top of that, so it's no surprise they didn't give one. As for giving money to other countries I don't like it because we wouldn't get the same in a time of need but the majority of philanthropy is done outside of government...
Just out of curiosity, what news station do you generally watch? What op/ed pieces do you read? What newspapers/magazines do you read? I feel they are giving you a lot of spin, propaganda, and incorrect truths which is skewing your thoughts.
