i think there have been periods of warming and cooling throughout the history of the earth, and that there will continue to be until the sun finally literally runs out of gas and life ceases to exist. or as my one coworker said, when jesus returns and there's armageddon.

thing is, i remember when the very same scientists and/or their brethren were preaching about the coming ice age thirty years ago. they were as emphatic then as the scientists today seem to be. there are scientists who say it doesn't exist, that the temp the last few years actually fell, then there are those who say altho we are having a warm trend at present, that it isn't man made. much as everyone who believes that warming is occurring and that it's man made would like to say otherwise, it's not a consensus across the board. for every article you can link to, i can find a rebuttal from scientists just as qualified. you have the head honcho for the movement conceding his 'fresh' numbers, aren't. you know, mercenaries generally sell themselves to the highest bidder.
i seem to recall immediately after katrina and rita hit that scientists predicted worsening hurricane seasons, both in intensity and frequency. not one atlantic hurricane made landfall in the u.s. this year. when's the last time that happened? i remember the same being said about tornadoes-that we would see more and more of them. just a few weeks ago, i read about storm chasers saying they felt odd about complaining, but there just weren't many twisters to study this year. bob posted an article from discovery from last year about melting in the himalayas- i found an article from a few months back that said other areas of that same range are bucking the trend. that they have increased glacier size.
