Regardless, I have no problem with what he said. Ive watched CV play plenty of times. Cleveland wanted him but they couldnt give him more than the mid level exception.
Detroit had to beat that. They had to beat the mid level exception to convince him to play for a non contender. So what did Detroit get?
If they staggered the contract, 6-7-8-9-10, The hit in the first two years will be negligible for a 24 year old low post player that can score and rebound. A majority of his problems are mental not physical. He has ability and no one denies it...and he's not an a.s.s. If he plays well, youve got a low post starter for bargain dollars by NBA standards. If he doesnt improve, then its still not a bad deal until year four and by year five you can trade the expiring contract.
The gordon deal might have been a reach. I dont like undersized two guards unless you have a big combo guard to pair him with. For that kind of money, they are betting on him being a stud. This is hit or miss.

I just cant see these two making Detroit appreciably better. They obviously have to do some more moving but spending to spend does not work and unless there is a major move down the road to make this all make sense I think that Dumars is reaching.
