As far as your accusation re more breakdowns and injuries... is that simple mathmatics? I mean if they have more horses they'll have a higher percentage?

I'm not trying to fight about this but we're both stubborn.

I know you can see the positive in many things in life but I think you refuse to acknowledge all the good they do for racing on an international scale.

That's cool.

I'll always appreciate and back them just as I know some will always look for what they're doing wrong.

Good luck to Black Snowflake next weekend.

Nice to see Schiaparelli entered...
You appreciate the good they do for racing? Could you explain what good they do for racing?? They take smaller owners out of the industry, they continue to use the scattergun approach to attempt to buy the competition.

George Strawbridge got it in the neck for buying Fantasia so that Rainbow View wouldn't have to run against her this season (not that it made any difference) but that's what Godolphin do every year. They are slowly taking the fun out of the sport, and even the most avid fans are getting fed up.

At the start, I was a fan. They appeared to have good ideas, and real plan and they were going places real quickly but then they started to think they could do it on their own without the help of people like David Loder, Neil Graham, Tom Albertrini (sp?) and many others who allowed everything to run smoothly. They didn't buy half as many horses back then, their breeding operation worked. Everything they ran in a maiden was expected to win, everything they ran in a group/graded race would be expected to win. Compare those days to now. It's just a joke.

They no longer have a plan. Their idea of training a racehorse is to gallop them as fast as they can, and as many times as they can in a short space of time. Sure, the horses will be fit but they will also be ruined very quickly. Ofcourse, they don't do it on purpose, but they are clueless.

mmsc, if you ever come to Newmarket and get to see a group of Godolphin horses doing a piece of work, you'd be forgiven in thinking you were watching a group race, it's no wonder they have so many injuries.

I'm not a huge fan of Coolmore either, as their policy of running pacemakers in each and every race just isn't what this sport is about, but at least they rely and back their own breeding operation. If Godolphin don't back their breeding operation, Darley then why would other people want to? It sends out such a negative message and they wonder why they are outdone by Coolmore each and every year.

It's frustration, mmsc. Too many horses I've grown up to love have gone there and been ruined and never fulfilled their potential. It's frustration that the likes of Crisford are completely clueless, but so big-headed he thinks he can do everything himself. It's annoying that they used trainers to get their ideas and then said they were no longer needed. Neil Graham did wonders with the 2yos' a few years ago, and he's a great guy, wouldn't say a bad word about anyone and a real horseman and then out of the blue he was told they no longer required his services and wanted him to leave.

It's good to see Schiaperelli entered again, but he's another horse we are unlikely to see at his best ever again. All after working him too hard very soon after they had purchased him.

I hope one day they see sense, cut down on horses, bring in some good minds and soon the glory days will be back, but if they continue to use the scattergun approach of buying horses, spending billions on yearlings, failing to back their breeding operation they will continue to struggle and continue to be a laughing stock throughout Europe. They no longer have unlimited funds, the oil is slowly running out and cheaper sources have been found, The UAE has been hardest hit in the global recession and Sheikh Mo is losing billions every year. These next five years are important, and if they don't make changes fast they could find themselves dead and buried.
