It does appear he liked our most dirt-like synthetic surface (Cushion) more than the others. I was surprised that he didn't do better in the Lewis Stakes. I'm sure he got an o.k. figure from it, but he looked very tired. It was surprising because Joe was sure he had turned the corner (with the addition of blinkers.) He expected to romp in that Lewis Race. Before that race, I sure didn't hear Joe say anything about him not liking the synthetics. He had just had a 7f workout at Anita in 123'3. So, I don't know what to think of the horse. Owner said he always struggled on synthetics. The drop in competition makes it even that much tougher to get a read on him. For some reason, 10f against grade 1 stuff seems to be a stretch. See, he has run a dull one on an odd surface, and a great one on an odd surface(inner track) against an odd field. He's the Wild Card.
